WOODFEST 2017 featuring Radio Stranger
The little party that Woody Moran started in his backyard has grown! We're holding this year's event across the street at Pete & Charity Hudnut's backyard. Bring a picnic, a bottle of wine, blanket, and short lawn chairs to enjoy the music.
Our next door neighbor, Eric Spencer, has talked a local brew pub into providing beer for us. That's right, FREE BEER.
RAFFLES & AUCTION. Of course, this is a CD Release party for songwriters Kelly Brightwell and Woody Moran as well. Every ticket will receive a FREE EP of the new Radio Stranger Crosstalk, which was made possible in part from funds raised at last year's Woodfest Party. So we are going to do it again with some cool raffled items and auction to help fund the next batch of songs.
THE MUSIC. Doors open at 5:00pm. We'll start the music at 5:30pm with an Open Mic. So bring your instrument and stop by the ticket booth to sign up for the open mic. Last year we had some fantastic musicians entertain us at the open mic, some even booked gigs as a result!
DAN WEBER. What a treat, as we have the fantastic musical storyteller Dan Weber as our MC. In addition to his MC duties, Dan will also play a set of music for us.
"Dan Weber sings short stories with the exuberance of Kerouac, the economy of Hemingway, and the melodic elegance of Hank Williams."- Tim Connor, Songwriter
RADIO STRANGER. Brightwell & Moran's Radio Stranger band will take us into the night with songs from the new CD, as well as songs from their individual collections. The band includes well known Portland musicians: Jean-Pierre Garau (keyboard), Michael Henchman (bass), Jeff Koch (guitar), Mark Powers (drums).
"Americana artist Kelly Brightwell and folk-rocker Woody Moran have fused their talents (as Radio Stranger), and the results are nothing short of amazing! They deliciously mix detailed observations of a world traveler, with the captivating storytelling, which brings emotional landscapes to life. They deliver harmonies that lock in rhythmically. Their unique talent is especially evident in a live setting."- Neil Scott, Producer/Host iHeartRadio
Okay, if you've read this far, then this probably sounds like a lot of fun for a Saturday evening. Tickets are $20 each, but to help us plan the event we are selling advance tickets for only $13.50 ea. You can sign up for the Open Mic in advance when you purchase your tickets. See you at the show!
PS - CHILDREN
Although this is not really a "kid friendly" event (there's no face painting and no bouncy house) we know that there will be some kids there, and that is great. If your children are old enough that they would enjoy listening to some fantastic music, by all means, get a ticket for them and bring them along. Otherwise, just get a sitter and have a "date night". Woo-hoo
